Vietnamese Mint | Polygonum odoratum/Persicaria odorata | Polygonaceae
Also known as Hot Mint, Laksa leaves and Rau Ram, this herb is very typical of the Polygonaceae family in it's growth habit and characteristics.
It can spread over time, layering easily but is quite well controlled by constant usage.
The only thing that it shares with the mint family is it's ability to create a groundcover.
As a culinary herb it is quite pungent and unlikely to to be overlooked in any dish and is essential Nyonya laksa noodle soup.
