Self Heal is another of those beautiful groundcovers that are best left to themselves and they will spread to the area that they like best.
It has a long history in Chinese medicine as well as western and we regard it very highly for it's immune stimulant properties.
The root divisions catch on well as long as they are not over watered, as the roots like to drain and do not respond well to 'boggy' soil.
It will grow and be quite therapeutic in some shade but it seems to do best with a few hours of sun.
It's roots are quite shallow so under high trees or deciduous trees seems best.
