This Malayan Patchouli is the variety most often seen in Australia and is more frequently than not, mis-named as P.cablin.
Both produce the same oil and are very similar in appearance so the difference is academic.
Patchouli is a deciduous shrub in all but tropical regions and needs to be trimmed back in winter to encourage fresh new growth in Spring.
It grows well in filtered sunlight as long as the roots do not dry out completely.
