Orange Jasmine/Mock Orange       | Murraya paniculata   | Rutaceae

Mature Plant

This beautiful, evergreen shrub, is a native to Australia and, while it may belong to the Rutaceae family, it shares very little with it's Citrus cousins.

After rain, it covers itself with an abundance of highly scented, jasmine like flowers which can be quite intoxicating.

It hedges very well and it's growth rate really suits the impatient gardener.

The mature plants are very drought and frost tolerant and can be formally hedged or just left to hedge themselves.

For those who like to distil, the bark yields a very pleasant aroma and the flowers can be steam distilled as are  citrus.

Herbally, the leaves and root have been used to treat menstrual disorders and for it's anti inflammatory action, but we have not used them as such at this stage. We will 'Road test' it later in the year.
