Japanese Box      Buxus microphylla var. japonica

Mature Plant

Slightly faster growing than English Box, it lends itself beautifully to topiary.

Creating that formal edge or small architectural element to the herb garden.

It takes constant trimming well and will survive nicely in most soils and climates but it does need a good drink in Summer.

Historically, it was used as a blood cleanser and to encourage hair growth in horses, but today, is considered too toxic to use.

Young leaf tips were also used for severe intestinal trauma.

We use the herb homeopathically, which is the safest use for the plant, medicinally.
