Houseleek's interesting name comes from it's reputed ability to protect against lightning and witchcraft.
Quite a feat!
This tiny, self reliant cousin of the aloes does contain a mucilage that can heal burns and stings but you would probably need a lot of them to be effective.
The leaves can be added to salads or made into a tea for mouth ulcers or sore irritated throat.
The taste is not unpleasant but is unusual. In the garden it is a bit of a quite achiever as you never seem to notice how well it has grown until it begins to spill over the rocks or out of it's pot.
