Horseradish is an absolute 'staple' in any vegy garden.
It is a consistent perennial that needs to be harvested often as it can get a little invasive if left alone too long.
The young leaves, smooth and roughly serrated on the same plant, can be added to salads to spice them up.
The freshly grated root makes that fantastic condiment that is so famous and is still the main ingredient in most commercial 'Wasabi' sauces.
If you plant near potatoes, the pungent root increases the disease resistance of the potatoes, and creates a healthy crop.
