Cotton Lavender  |  Santolina   |  Santolina chamaecyparissus    |  Compositae

Mature plant

Along with Wormwood and Wooly Lamb's Ears, Santolina is one of the herbs that almost glows in the moonlight.

As a decorative element in the garden it is particularly beautiful.

Growing to about 50cm in height and the same in diameter, it looks wonderful as an herbal statement.

We dry the leaves and use them as a substitute for moth balls as well as combining the leaves with Coltsfoot and Chamomile as an herbal tobacco.

Grows best in full sun in soil that is allowed to dry occasionally.

Not much trouble in the garden as all you need to do is trim back after flowering.
