Comfrey
Symphytum officinale | Boraginacea
Having a deep tap root makes Comfrey a little difficult to get established in some soils but once settled it seems to last for years.
Comfrey has quite a sturdy, healthy root system that brings nutrient up from much deeper in the soil than most plants.
Because it contains phosphorus, potassium, calcium and allantoin it is extremely useful as a healing agent speeding up the cell renewal in damaged muscle.
Pot the rootstock immediately and within two weeks you will have a healthy plant growing.
Aside from the medicinal value, it's ability to supply a beneficial 'tea' for the garden, means that it pays it's own way every year.
The 'garden tea' is a little smelly but it is so good for your garden that you really don't mind.
