Cape Gooseberry only grows to around 80cm and, although it has woody stems its leaves are extremely tender and sensitive.
As only the fruit is used, there is only one harvest a year but as a fluid retention and kidney treatment, it is one of the best tasting remedies around.
Cape Gooseberry will grow throughout most of Australia and it self-seeds well and grows strongly during late winter, spring and summer.
