Mimosa Tree/ Pink Silk Tree | Albizia julibrissin | Fabaceae
A gorgeous deciduous shrub that features highly in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Albizia is a very pleasant deciduous garden shrub.
Even as seedlings, the Pink Silk Tree, loses all of it's leaves over winter, but comes back with gusto in early Spring.
A favourite of honey eaters, it is always the centre of activity.
In TCM, it is used for insomnia, depression and irritability as well as post traumatic swelling and damp heat in the lungs.
Albizia is currently gaining much acceptance in Western Herb lore as a very effective remedy for sinus and allergy relief, which is our primary use for the shrub.
